I was very excited when someone from Snubbr (a site that you can go to for product recommendations) contacted me and asked if I wanted to do a cookbook giveaway on my blog. How could I turn down the opportunity for one of you to win a cookbook? All you have to do is comment on this post and tell me what cookbook you want to win (that's less than $30) and why you want that cookbook.
The contest closes Friday May 28, at which point Snubbr will pick the winner and send them their cookbook. Make sure to include your email address or a way of contacting you. This contest is open to people in Canada and the US. I'm looking forward to seeing what cookbook people will choose!

I would definitely have to say Moosewood Low Fat Favorites. I have heard SO many good things about that book, and the recipes sound both fun and delicious :) I also love that many of the cookbooks's recipes are vegetarian or vegan. As an aspiring vegan, it would make meals a lot easier!

Oh, that would have to be Adam Perry Lang's "BBQ 25:'. i've heard it's fantastic guide to everything grill related, and is something i really want to check out.
it's his take on his '25 essential' grilling recipes, getting everythign possible out of a cut of meat, and that's something we can all aspire to.

I have been working my way through the Pie and Pastry Bible for some time now, and have used some of the recipes off your site, Chocolate Beet Cake, Creamy Coconut Cake,

I guess this is a chance to recommend one of my favorites The New Whole Foods Encyclopedia by Rebecca Wood. Its not filled with recipes but it does have some and gives a lot of ideas and information on how to prepare a variety of foods. I borrowed a copy from a freind, but have to give it back soon.

There are so many! Right now, I'd have to say The SoNo Baking Company Cookbook by John Barricelli. I love to bake and I keep reading about this one. It sounds like one I would love.
I would by far want to win The Flavor Bible. My mother seems to have an innate sense of spices and flavors, and what works well. I've been trying to acquire for ages, and having just completed my freshman year in college, I've learned it's an invaluable skill. I don't just want to learn new recipes, but also understand how recipes operate, hopefully so I'd be able to create my own.

Many people reject it as unecessary since you can easily buy bread in a store or use a breadmaker, but I think it would be so satisfying (and delicious!) to make your own!

I've been wanting to get the cookbook "Moosewood Restaurant Low-Fat Favorites" for a while now. I have borrowed my mom's cookbooks for a while, but now she's moved across the country and I can't take advantage of that anymore! The primary reason I would like the cookbook is so that I can try cooking more low-fat alternatives to my daily meals. My dad just got diagnosed with adult-onset diabetes, so I really want to lose some weight and improve my health to lower my own risk... The Moosewood cookbooks are all really well-written and have some lovely recipes, so I'm hoping this one does too!
'1,000 vegan recipes'by Robin Robertson would be my choice. i am trying to build my vegan cookbook selection. This seems perfect because it has recipes covering a little bit of everything!

Peter Reinhart's Artisan Breads Every Day. It covers a large variety of yeasted treats and shows how to make them without the usual tedious processes of traditional baking.
"Rustic Fruit Desserts: Crumbles, Buckles, Cobblers, Pandowdies, and More", by Cory Schreiber - I'm looking for more fruit based desserts and this seems to be packet with homey, comforting ones!
Oh man, how to choose? I have a list a mile long! World Vegetarian by Madhur Jaffrey is at the top though.
I'm a little afraid of baking with yeast even though I've made a few things with it so I would just like to get a little more comfortable with baking with it more. I've read that the perfect book to get for that reason would be Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking. I've read so many great reviews about it.

I would like The New Moosewood Cookbook. I have just become vegetarian, for sustainability and health reasons. Everything I've had from the Moosewood Cookbooks has been fabulous, and the recipes are easy to follow. Great education in them too. It would be the first vegetarian cookbook to my collection. Great jump start to cooking new and wonderfully.
Hands down, David Leibovitz's book Ripe for Dessert or even his new book Ready for Dessert. I've always been a bit afraid of making dessert (cookies was were it was at) but his friendly style of recipe writing helped me get over some of that fear and make some fancier cakes. (I took his book out of the library once and tried a few of the recipes and they were so so good.) I'd love to own one of his books.

Cindy Mushet's THE ART AND SOUL OF BAKING seems to be a pastry class in book form, with everything you need to know and all the little thing you didn't know you needed to know about baking. She includes tips that never seem to show up in recipe books that come only from years of experience. I stand somewhere in-between a dabbler and an experienced baker; I want to grow in the craft, honing my skills, and I believe that this book would greatly help me in doing so.
I am already in love with "Jam It, Pickle It, Cure It: And Other Cooking Projects" by Karen Solomon. I hope everyone knows what they are getting for Christmas this year!

I am an avid baker and cook. I also have a modest obsession with cookbooks. I love reading them and test driving them from the library. I recently became familiar with Jim Lahey's work and his bread. As a novice bread maker I am very interested in his technique and have fallen for his book "My Bread". I would love to add this book to my collection and continue to sample his recipes without racking up a fine on my VPL library card!
