Happy new year!

I hope you all had a good new year's eve and are excited to start 2008! I love seeing other food bloggers' lists of food they want to make in the next year, and their favourite food they've made in the past year so I wanted to do a post like that too.

Looking over the food that I've made since I started my food blog last June, I'm reminded of the many yummy food discoveries I've made. But also that there's so many recipes out there that I still have to try! I want to make more cakes (maybe figure out what a genoise and chiffon cake are supposed to be like) and fancy desserts. And I really want to find at least 15 delicious and healthy meals that I can make on a weeknight (not sure if that's too much to ask!) The things that are on the top of my list (though really it is a neverending list of recipes) to try are:
-soft pretzels
-apple butter
-homemade pasta (with my new pasta maker!)
-perogies
-gougères/profiteroles
-pumpkin butterscotch cake
-chocolate truffles

I'm with you on the healthy weeknight meals, especially with me cooking on my own in college. I do have a recipe for Spinach Mushroom Lasagna you could make for your family, and it's vegetarian. I'll hopefully be posting about it soon!! I'm behind in entries lol

I made soft pretzels in middle school, which was about...8 years ago?! I kept the recipe from my cooking class. Maybe it's time I made pretzels again.

Forgot to mention - thanks for showing me that pancake recipe. Now that I bought cloves, I'll have to try them again :)

That's a delicious trip down memory lane! Congrats on a new pasta maker. I just got one at a rummage sale and have had such fun making noodles. I look forward to seeing what you've got cooking in '08!

What a fun read! I loved looking back through your old posts and viewing your huge, beautiful "best foods" pictures. I'm glad you pointed out Matthew's Tofu recipe - I own The Garden of Vegan, and I also think maple syrup is great glaze for tofu! The Starbucks Chocolate Cinnamon Cake looks really good too (I happen to like those two ingredients together).

Yay for 2008 - I'd be excited to see you make pretzels! Jamba Juice makes a good apple cinnamon pretzel that made me curious about the art of making one's own pretzels!
